Portugal
"A small country with a very long shoreline."
Portugal has had unchanged borders since 1297, the oldest in Europe. Its Atlantic-facing coast made it the launchpad of the 15th-century Age of Discovery: an outsized reach from a small land.

A quiet daily ritual for grown-ups who'd like to understand why Suez matters, where lithium comes from, and what makes one country different from its neighbor. Hand-written lenses. No quizzes. No streak guilt.
HOW IT WORKS
Today's eight lenses are waiting, picked by a spaced-repetition engine that knows what you're forgetting and what you've never seen.
Each lens opens with a single question or framing. You think first. The body reveals when you tap.
Your honest answer feeds the engine. A "Hazy" lens comes back in a few hours. A "Clear" one in a day. The cadence stretches as you learn.
A LENS, IN YOUR HANDS
PLACE teaches geography. STORY teaches history. NOW teaches headlines. THREAD connects countries through what they share: supply chains, languages, watersheds.
"A small country with a very long shoreline."
Portugal has had unchanged borders since 1297, the oldest in Europe. Its Atlantic-facing coast made it the launchpad of the 15th-century Age of Discovery: an outsized reach from a small land.
Four lens types appear in rotation: PLACE for geography, STORY for history, NOW for headlines, and THREAD for the supply chains, languages and watersheds that connect countries. After reading each one you mark it New, Hazy, or Clear, and the spaced-repetition engine schedules when it returns.
YOUR MAP, OVER TIME
Every country you've absorbed glows on your map. It isn't a leaderboard, it's a record of attention. Tap any country to see what lenses you've collected there.
The map covers all 195 countries. Each one you have absorbed fills in and holds the lenses you collected there, so the map doubles as a record of what you have actually read rather than a score. Tapping a country opens its lenses, and the region filters narrow the view to the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia or Oceania.
THE DAILY RITUAL
A session is eight lenses and takes about five minutes. Each lens opens with a prompt, you think for a moment, then you reveal the answer and mark it New, Hazy, or Clear. There is no score, no timer and no streak to protect. The marks are the only input the spaced-repetition engine needs to decide when a country comes back.
WHY NOT JUST…
THE LIBRARY
No GPT summaries. No Wikipedia scrapes. Every line in Geography passes through an editor who has lived somewhere outside their birth country, or read its history end-to-end. It's the slow part of the work, and the only part that matters.
"How a quarter of all humans alive in 1300 lived under one ruler."
"Two oil countries. Two very different theories of what oil is for."
"A country that measures itself by happiness, and means it."
"Why three-digit inflation became a normal way of life."
"Both countries are mostly below sea level. They are dealing with that very differently."
"How a country with no oil and no land became a global cultural exporter."
"A city-state that became a country by being kicked out."
"Why your car battery depends on a narrow country."
FREE, IN YOUR BROWSER
Sixty four pages you can read or play right here, no download involved. Browser quizzes, two data tools, and sourced answers to the questions people actually type into a search box. The app is the daily habit; these are the way in.
Five quizzes that run in the browser. No account, no scoreboard, and the full answer list at the end.
Two interactive tools that answer a question by showing you the data rather than describing it.
One question, one calm answer, with the figures checked and the sources named.
Which countries speak a language, how it got there, and what the map looks like now.
Counted lists with the working shown: the smallest, the most, and every country that starts with a letter.
Two things people mix up, set side by side until the difference is obvious.

A NOTE FROM THE TEAM
"I made Geography because I was tired of finishing a podcast and remembering nothing. I wanted something quieter, that respected the fact that I'd already spent eleven hours staring at screens."
The goal was never to teach you a fact a day. It was to slowly install a sense of the world, the kind of intuition that lets you read the news and have it actually land. Five minutes is enough, if the writing is good and the order is right.
We have no investors, no growth team, and no plans for a streak feature. Our simple subscription model exists for one reason: to keep the writers writing. That's the whole business.

REVIEWS
"It's a good app to use when you want to learn something new but you just finished a long hard day. There's stuff here that has noticeably made me a more interesting person on dates, even if I'm not that smart."
"The first 'learning' app I haven't deleted. There is no streak to break, so I don't feel bad on the days I forget. So I forget less."
"Geography somehow made me care deeply about borderlines, trade routes, and tiny islands I previously could not have pointed to with confidence. The daily lenses are smart, calm, and weirdly addictive. Also, the latest update fixed the Contact Support button, which is great news for everyone sending passionate late-night feedback about Kazakhstan."
